TIME TERMINAL

You have arrived in the 1910's. A fascinating (but not necessarily safe) decade to travel, specially for long journeys. What would you choose for your first journey?

• The Titanic, and (try to) travel from Southampton to New York (...well, wherever you arrive).

• The Orient Express, and travel from London to Venice, and then to Istanbul.

• A Zeppelin, if you want (or need) to travel between the USA and Europe, but you don't want to take a ship (our advice: the Titanic is is safer anyway).

• You can also travel by car, but a horse might be faster.

Miss Henrietta- Travel influencer

Being a travel influencer in the 1910's - what nobody tells you

"Yes, you might think that < influencer > is a rather modern word, at least in this sense. Maybe a definition from the next century or so (basically when you are reading). And you know what? Who cares. Since we don't have smartphones in this era (I'm actually not sure if we even have normal phones, I guess we use telegraphs… but at least we can already text each other), you can forget about me doing some stupid challenges (like: "I'm going to cross the Atlantic alone in a Zeppelin, so you don't have to"). You can be a part of my fascinating travel adventures in this decade, of which unfortunately you have lost the charm in your era".

I have traveled with the Titanic (so you don't have to).

When you decide to travel with the Titanic, the first thing you notice is that you have very limited booking options. In fact, for the departure there was only one date available. And for the arrival even not this.

Top things to do on the Titanic.

Here’s what I liked, and what I didn’t like so much of this journey (click / tap to open):

1)

Go to the telegraphists and send messages to your friends with the Morse- alphabet, but using it to express emojis.

2)

Go to a diner in a first class restaurant and brag to the people at your table that Archduke Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Wilhelm II of Prussia, Rudolph Valentino and Pablo Picasso are your followers.

3)

Accompany the Titanic orchestra by rapping while it plays.

4)

Interview survivors exclusively, before they even know they’re going to become such (and why).

5)

Take selfies with random passengers at the grand staircase (ideally before any impact with icebergs or other objects, since I have experienced that after, people tend to be less willing to dwell).

My final thoughts about this trip:

Here are my final thoughts about this trip, with the appropriate detachment: the Titanic might be the right choice for your next travel, if the destination itself is not the priority for you.
My total experience: 3 stars out of 5
I have collected some opinions from other travelers:

Mildred W. (passenger)

"The outdoor- pools are a bit too radical for me. Maybe for younger people they might be thrilling. 2 stars out of 5".

Archibald J. (passenger)

"The final escape- room challenge doesn’t really leave you many useful options to choose from. I had honestly more the impression of something improvised rather than thoroughly organized. And anyway, there would not have been enough places, if everyone on the ship had wanted to participate. Only 3 stars out of 5".

...And you?

Travel:

1912 was a fascinating year for long journeys (especially if your priorities did not necessarily include arriving to your destination). For example, you could choose between the Titanic and the Orient Express, or take a Zeppelin if you wanted (or needed) to travel between the USA and Europe, but you didn't want to take a ship.

If you could travel back to 1912, which would you choose, the Titanic or the Orient Express?

Top answers:

- "If I inform myself well about which lifeboats remained half-empty and how I could reach them quickly, I could even risk choosing the Titanic. I think that the category < Survivors of the Titanic > is still a small niche here on Storyexpe".

- "For me, the choice between Titanic and Orient Express is pretty awesome. Otherwise, I could choose between horses and cars, driving at the same speed of a horse".
