Time Terminal
The fifties are among the most desired decades for anyone who would like to travel to the past, and if you are a time traveler, there is a good chance that it is among the first decades you have visited. Few other periods have entered the collective imagination to the extent that they can be summed up in a symbolic image, with characteristic fashions, colors, and shapes. And for few others the expression "it was better when it was worse" is so often applied. However, especially those who actually lived through them, report a rather romanticized view of the fifties by those who did not. A view that tends to emphasize the more characteristic aspects, amplified by an economic boom in many countries and profound cultural changes. But more rarely does it take into account the real issues of this decade.
In any case, as becomes also evident from many communities here on Storyexpe, the fifties still have an extraordinary power to evoke nostalgia, precisely in those who did not experience them. And that is perhaps one of their strengths: everyone interprets individual nostalgia about the fifties. And for you not to be unprepared as soon as you arrive in the 1950's, here are some things to do immediately:
1) Prevent Biff from dating your mother.
2) Buy an almanac (but do this in the present), and bet on the winning teams (this point is also very important).
3) Prevent Biff from stealing your almanac.
4) Impress random people with your hoverboard (but you can do this essentially in every other decade, even in 2015 or in the present, since they still don’t exist. And in any case, first you have to buy one in the future ...but don’t ask us when exactly).
...Sorry gen-z if you maybe don't understand these points. More ideas? Enter the community.
Here we go again: I got stuck in the fifties, but this time it's not my fault at all ...or maybe only partly. Here's what happened: while I was here, I realized that my Walkman batteries had run out, so I decided to take the DeLorean to buy new batteries in the 1980's. I am sure the same thing happens to you as frequently. When I wanted to leave, I ran out of plutonium, and I have no idea where Doc is now. In the meantime, I'm going to take a little trip into the fifties, discovering new things. If you want, you can accompany me here, or you can enter Hill Valley.
PS: If you have some plutonium, please DM me. I am sure in your era it is possible to order it everywhere.
