CONVERSATIONS FROM STORYEXPE RESIDENTS:
When reading a horror novel, I’m glad that what I’m reading is not happening to me in real life. But honestly ...when reading a romantic novel, I’m even happier that my life is not like this.
Writing tip for a romantic novel: it’s just not realistic that your protagonist writes an incredibly romantic email, accidentally sends it to an unknown person, and it will reach the partner of his / her dreams, who will finally fall in love. This does not happen. Never.
Character development for a RomCom: it’s funny to start from something you have experienced in real life, and make the protagonist go through the most absurd situations, just being happy it’s not really you.
Fairly important tip: avoid naming the protagonist after yourself. And if you absolutely don’t believe in karma, it’s even better.
The most fascinating thing to describe for a writer: a nostalgia. It will inevitably be something personal, and the more you try to make an abstract description of it, the more you will draw from your own experiences. Discovering unseen facets.

MOST POPULAR TOPICS
Gothic / dark romantic
There is nothing more romantic than a spooky castle, possibly in decay, and the ghost of a lady or a knight (depending on what you are looking for). And if the story is truly fascinating, then both are present. On Storyexpe you are sure to find many fascinating stories. And if by chance you yourself are the ghost of a lady or of a knight, feel free to add your own story, as this is a niche so far little explored on Storyexpe.
Someone once said that the sweetest fruits sometimes are hidden behind the darkest appearance, accessible only to those who are willing to walk the gloomiest paths to understand them.
Romantic art
Art of the romantic era is among the most inspiring for Storyexpe- users: from music (Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Schubert) to literature and poetry (John Keats, Novalis, Edgar Allan Poe, Mary Shelley, Lord Byron) and paintings (the pre-Raphaelites, Francisco Goya, Caspar David Friedrich). Of course, classic works continue to fascinate (Romeo & Juliet, etc.), both in their traditional versions and in more modern interpretations. But even there on Storyexpe you will find works unknown to most (and of course you can add your own favorites - just joyn the community and / or create your own, maybe about a specific niche). In fact, art related to the Romantic movement is so varied, that it can be found in numerous other categories and areas on Storyexpe.
